#NorthupNews – Luckenbach, Texas

I had a feature, called Julie’s Jewels, on Norns Triad Publications’ blog. I used it to share tidbits about my life, which I tied into book suggestions (because you know I love books). I thought it might be fun to do something similar here. Hence, the birth of this series, #NorthupNews.

The cool thing is that my partners, Sahara Foley and Karen J. Mossman, have similar features on their blogs. It is a way for us to connect with our readers. Hopefully, it is as interesting to you as it is for us.

Dusty & I went to Luckenbach, Texas with some friends over a weekend in February 2023. Yep, that place Waylon Jennings wrote about and Willie Nelson sang. It wasn’t what I expected, but it was a peaceful place filled with simple delights and serene beauty.

Sitting outside on the picnic tables as we chatted with dear friends, I treasured the moment. I loved the feel of the breeze, just right at this time of year – not too hot, nor too cold. The welcoming country music moving gently through the gathered people as they enjoyed beer or soda… Whether you arrived by motorcycle or car, it was a quaint place to stop.

Of course, the history is kept alive by the tourism, so there are some cute shops as well as the old stomping grounds of various artists. One unexpected treat I enjoyed was the humorous “Armadactyl.”
