#BooksForTheHoliday – June is for CATS!

June is all about loving felines.
We celebrate National Adopt A Cat Month and National Hug Your Cat Day!

As humans, I believe it is our birthright to care for the planet and all that inhabit it. If we want to count ourselves the king of animals and top of all things, then we need to take the responsibility that comes with that title and role. Sometimes, this is easier said than done. Like on warm furry days, such as these observances. Loving cats the way I do just makes it easier to do.

What if you don’t love cats? I know! It was hard to write to, but bear with me. God knows “Cuddle A Snake Day” would never be on my calendar, but that makes it all the more important to discuss! During observances, such as “Share A Sandwich With A Bug Day,” I would not be a happy participant. However, I do understand there are things I could do to help these creatures nonetheless, and that translates for people who feel the same way for our feline friends.

This month isn’t necessarily about you loving cats. Yes, granted “Hug Your Cat Day” is all about loving your cat, but “Adopt A Cat Month” doesn’t have to be literal. It can be metaphorically, as in sponsor a cat. How? Make a donation to a shelter or do something nice for that stray you see prowling the neighborhood. You never know what a little act of kindness can inspire.
