A Welcome Reunion by Lucinda BerryMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Dark Read
I don’t know what I expected when I selected to read this short. Still, the plot blew me away. There was nothing about the story I anticipated, which was great.
I started to question the validity of things, rationalizing events, but stopped. My analytical mind, both benefiting and hindering my experience, wanted to understand just as the characters did. I decided it was best to just enjoy things as they unfolded.
I found Hannah and Piper surprisingly strong, even in their weakness. Neither were similar to me, personally, but one could relate to their positions. None were truly blameless, but Piper was the truest victim of circumstances.
I found no love for Christopher. His relationship with Hannah proved how different we are, especially how they parented and managed their household. There are so many disconnects and blind spots when they are supposed to have the marriage they report to live. Smh.
I think this is a good read – dark and frustrating – but good. LOL I think it drew the emotions it was meant to, and it was certainly engaging. Well done.
