This Short Blew Me Away
A friend recommended this book to me, and I’m thankful she did. I purchased it off her blind suggestion, knowing our shared tastes in literature, and jumped in unknowingly. In the end, I devoured the tale that took me on an emotional ride.
This plot took me off guard. I was continually shocked as it progressed. The emotions beautifully crafted in the imagery the words painted – isolation, desperation, regret… love.
I can’t say Talia, or even Noel, are my kind of people with some of their actions. For example, I don’t know if she is really ‘likable,’ but I still empathize with her. Talia is flawed yet quintessentially human. She is a creature of passion and deep emotion, which is why I think we can all relate to her.
Was karma at play in this book? Maybe. Oddly, there’s beauty and hope in the despair and tragedy.
I’m going to need a moment to decompress from this tale…
