Every year, I set a reading goal. I use the reading challenge feature on Goodreads to track my reading and to measure how I have performed. This is important to me because it helps me keep accountability of my personal goal to enjoy leisure reading.
Too often, life can get away from me. I like having a way of ensuring I do at least one thing that is purely for my enjoyment. The fact it also benefits other authors makes me feel good, which is another reason I love to read and review books. It is a blessing to give back to the writers who entertain me with stories and characters I love.
In addition, reading fuels my passion for literature. It encourages my creativity while helping to hone my skills as both a writer and editor. It helps me to understand genres and tropes to strengthen me as a publisher.
There are so many reasons that I value reading. I hope you do as well!
