A Long Winter’s Nap/Flight of the Penguin by Tish RabeMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Tribute To Dr. Seuss’ Legacy
I really love this author’s continuation of Dr. Seuss’ classics. Dare I say I appreciate it more than the original because it’s more logical, mature, and educational. Of course, Dr. Seuss focused more on emotional growth (behavior) while Tish Rabe targets teaching about the nature world (about things). It is a lovely contrast and development to these books.
These stories are charming. They hold the traditions of Dr. Seuss and The Cat in the Hat, but with an elegance befitting the stages a young reader progresses from children’s books to Middle grade titles. They are fun, entertaining, and colorful. They are poetic, yet they are brilliantly on task with conveying educational facts about the animals discussed.
These would make great holiday gifts. Definitely recommend them for your older youth readers. They are great!
