#BooksForTheHoliday – National Marriage Week!

National Marriage Week is celebrated annually from February 7th until February 14th!

Often, marriage is taught as a natural progression of a romantic relationship – the goal for happy couples. However, this is a fallacy. It isn’t a goal anymore than it promises happiness. Marriage is a great many things – the biggest being WORK!

My husband is my best friend and I love him dear. Matter of fact, I am IN love with him, but that doesn’t mean I always LIKE him or what he does. Nor does that mean he likes me 100% of time. To say otherwise would be a lie because we are human.

There are times when people get moody. Sometimes, this happens for no reason at all. Sometimes, we may not understand why ourselves. I know that holds true for me, but loving someone unconditionally doesn’t mean you agree on, or about, everything. It means you communicate, talk through issues for a common resolution that betters conditions for all involved, and you have mutual respect. It means you are honest enough to hold each other accountable, have grace to forgive mistakes from all parties, and kindness enough to show empathy.

Dusty and I are not perfect, but we ARE perfect together. I say this because we make our love and friendship a priority over everything else, except God. We make a daily choice to work on being open, communicative, and understanding. As long as we stand with one another, we will always have the best. I pray that for all of you!
