The Sleeping Ones: A Post-Viral Apocalyptic Short Story by Sam J FiresMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
Interesting Quick Read – Disturbing
I saw this on a friend blog and thought I’d check it out. It was interesting, though I wish it had been better disturbing. It had a disturbing flare that promised a rich “I Am Lengend” feel, but it really didn’t go anywhere for me.
I liked the message of hope. That was a lovely touch and brought a tenderness to the macabre scenes of Sally treating her dead mother like a life-size doll. It also explained the connection bergen the cast of characters we met.
For this short story, I’d say it’s best you read it yourself to decide how you feel about it. I’m sitting neutral myself. I don’t think it was bad, but I think it felt unfinished.
