I am based on the author’s real grandma, Ruby Pearl Terrill.
What’s your role in the story – are you the protagonist or a supporting character?
I am the main character.
Are you a human, animal, alien, robot, or something completely different?
I am a young girl.
Do you consider yourself to be good, bad, or indifferent? Would others agree with this assessment – why, or why not?
I am a good girl, but I have big dreams that don’t fit in with many small townspeople. I want to work and see other parts of the United States.
What do we need to know about you?
What is your personal goal? I mean, what do you ultimately want?
My personal goal is to go to college.
What is standing in your way? What conflict(s) do you face?
Girls born in the early 1900s are supposed to get married, not go to college and work.
Why is this goal important to you? What’s your motivation?
Having an education is essential to me. I see where the world is going, and I want to play a bigger role in it. My parents plan on ensuring my brothers are educated, but they still believe in the old ways of all girls getting married while the men work.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?
To have more patience and try to understand what my parents are trying to teach me.
I have the best parents ever, but they don’t see the world changing as much as I do. I wish I knew how to make them understand.
How do I get a copy of your book?
Is it available now, or when can we expect to see it released?
