My Book Review of Please Like Me (But Keep Away) (Nothing Like I Imagined)

Mindy 2Please Like Me by Mindy Kaling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Humorous and Touching

Mindy Kaling just makes me love her more. She is real and down-to-earth as well as hilarious. Again, I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up this short story, but I was smiling when I finished it.

I don’t know what I loved better – the orange cheese bit or the fact that Mindy was so open about being an introvert. I can totally relate to her on many levels, which was unexpected. It was nice to be able to see such an intelligent, successful, and beautiful woman be willing to share her vulnerability in a way that’s so inclusive.

This autobiographical tale was enjoyable to read. It reminded me we have more in common with one another than not. The truth is that we all just want a place to belong, where we can be ourselves with like-minded people who accept us. Mindy does a great job bringing this to light in an entertaining way.
