My Book Review of If the Fates Allow: A Short Story

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Interesting Covid Christmas
I thought this was a good representation of the covid era. This short story did a good job painting a picture of America during 2020 and 2021, especially during the holidays.
This was an interesting read, but it felt incomplete. The first Christmas ended too abruptly for me, leaving with unanswered questions. Then, the time jump felt disjointed because it seemed weird. It could be my age and the fact I’ve not dated in over 31 years, but it seemed off.
I did like the characters. Reagan and Mason are sweet together. I would like to explore their relationship more and to have a fuller story dedicated to them. They have great potential.
I was neither disappointed nor impressed by this tale. It just seemed to exist for me. I think it’s worth reading because the characters magically charm their way into your heart through the mundane. It feels relaxed and comfortable in a tense world of covid. It’s quite interesting…
