My Book Review of Meet January: Book 1 of The Calendar Kids Series

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cute Way to Teach
I thought this was a fun story for middle graders learning about seasons or months. It was thoughtful to include facts about January, the recipe for Snowman Pancakes, and discussion topics. These inclusions add to the story as well as the series.
The author made January a real kid. Her attempts to skip school, even using her fox, is something we can all relate to.
I liked how both the positives and negatives about the season/January were highlighted. A child freezing solid was played down, but it worked well in other lessons about cold and ice.
Overall, this is a cute book with lovely illustrations. My grandkids will enjoy this story and the pictures. I’m sure your young readers will, too.
