Meet Julie and Juan Rodreguiz

MEET MY CHARACTER

  • Tell us about your story:
    • What is the name of your book? What genre is it?
      • Thriller – Techno Thriller
    • When and where is your tale set?
      • Our story takes place in current contemporary time. The thriller incidents involve several cities around the world including Luxemburg, Spain, United States, Australia, China, and Russia. Cybercrime has no boundaries and can impact everyone.
  • Who are you?
    • What is your name?
      • We are married. Our names are Julie and Juan Rodreguiz.
Are you a fictional or historical character?
      • We are fictional personas with realistic attributes. We are always characters.
What’s your role in the story – are you the protagonist or a supporting character?
      • We are the co-protagonists who created and manage CATS—Cyber Assassin Technology Services team. We run this group of cyber heroes who are called into complex and desperate situations to discover root causes and identify the attackers.
Are you a human, animal, alien, robot, or something completely different?
      • We are humans with family including our young twins, long-standing relationships, moral fiber, and tenacity. Much of our activity requires access to our digitally connected world.
    • Do you consider yourself to be good, bad, or indifferent?  Would others agree with this assessment – why, or why not?
      • We consider ourselves and our CATS team as cyber good guys. We work to find the cyber thugs and right their wrongs. In the eyes of the criminals, we identify we are worthy opponents who will do what it takes to bring them to justice.
  • What do we need to know about you?
    • What is your personal goal?  I mean, what do you ultimately want?
      • We created this working group of skilled, like-minded individuals who understand and believe in justice against the cyber-scum who pollute the Internet with their crimes against humanity. Holding a city or company’s computer-driven environment hostage with ransomware demanding payment is no different than putting on a ski mask to rob a convenience store with a gun. Society needs champions to extract justice in the digital universe of today.
What is standing in your way?  What conflict(s) do you face?
      • Cybercriminals tend to run one step ahead of law enforcement. Good guys need to work twice as hard to understand where and how attacks will occur. In the digital world, where actions and reactions occur in nanoseconds, the fixes for nefarious plots, such as cyber extortion, often occur after an incident. It only takes one careless mistake to let this slime in where they are not wanted and doesn’t belong. Fortunately, a single thread of digital filament usually traces our team back to the cyber thug.
Why is this goal important to you?  What’s your motivation?
      • Julie: I grew up in a family committed to helping others. My family created an organization at the end of World War II, R-Group, that supports their extended client base of honest, reputable families and businesses with financial investments, network security, real estate, and more. The family operation educates and trains their children in all the latest strategies and technologies available should they choose to work in the family business, which is secretive. I learned to play roles to extract information and help others.
      •  Juan: I grew up in Mexico during difficult times and walked on the wrong side of the line. I have an older brother Carlos who tries to protect me. He encouraged me to learn to fly any sort of aircraft. My flying introduced me to Julie after I got shot in The Enigma Rising. Julie helped me create a new identity and change the course of my life. She’s beautiful inside and out. I fell head over heels in love with Julie, and she made me believe in cyber justice and fight for what is right.
    • If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?
      • Julie: I wouldn’t change anything. My life is rich beyond belief working with my husband, raising our twins, Juan Jr and Gracie, and fighting for justice. For me changing anything would suggest an alternate existence and I would not trade my heart’s desire for anything.
      • Juan: she wouldn’t change anything. Her life is rich with her children and husband. Any changes would mean an alternate existence and she wouldn’t trade that for what she has. For Juan, it would be to have found Julie sooner in his checkered past.
  • How do I get a copy of your book?
    • Is it available now, or when can we expect to see it released?
