My Book Review of The Traveling Book: A book about Little Free Libraries

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Adorable and Inspiring
I was drawn to this book because I am a reader, but also, I am encouraging the love of literature in my grandkids. They have recently discovered the library, and with such adorable LRLs around our town, I thought this would be a delightful book to check out. I was not disappointed – it is great. The artwork is wonderful, and the story is so cute, showing how books are always loved.
As a cat lady, I appreciated the little kitty being included on each page. As a grandmother, it added another level to make the experience interactive with my grandchildren, helping to keep those with short attention spans more focused. In addition, the colors and diverse LRLs represented helped captivate my young readers, as well.
I thought it was inspiring that the author not only showed how different LRLs can be, but also represented real LRLs she was aware of – annotating the state in which they exist. That was a delight. What a lovely way to show inclusion, creativity, and innovation. These are all things that children should be exposed to, and the author does so in such a wonderful way.
I recommend this as a gift for your young readers. It is perfect for kids to read with adults or for elementary schoolers to enjoy on their own. There’s a lot to discover in the artwork and the story is charming. I am sure the kids will return to it, again and again.
