A Light In The Darkness by Aaron ZevyMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wonderful Tale of Unconditional Friendship
This is a wonderful middle grade book. Though there are some structural and grammatical issues, the story is worth the read. It is moving and a testament to true friendship.
I was angry that the Jewish family was asked to change something inside their home to stop the behavior of a hateful criminal. I appreciated what the community did to solve the problem. For me, the unity was the true power and teaches the lesson that by banding together, we can make a difference without violence.
It’s sad that racism exists. However, it’s nice to have a book that shows kids there’s a solution. It’s good to have a way to illustrate the power kids have in effecting change.
