Today Is National Spirit of ’45 Day
Though no one really knows the exact day, it is generally agreed that V-J Day marks the end of World War II. This is because the armistice was signed on that day in 1945. Then, on August 14, 1945, U.S. President Harry S. Truman announced that Japan surrendered, inciting spontaneous celebrations. World Word II had officially ended.

The inspiration, perseverance, and sacrifice of this Greatest Generation has become known as the Spirit of ’45. That undying “can-do attitude” allowed these tested and tried people to endure, and is what, and who, we honor today.
