March Is About Women

No only does the United States recognize women throughout March with National Women’s History Month, but we also celebrate the worldwide observances of International Women’s Day (March 8th annually) and International Women’s Week (the week of March 8th). In addition, the week of March 8th is the Week of Women in Aviation!
The purpose of these observances is to honor women who have fought for equality among all races and genders and to bring awareness to gender parity. These rights (according to nationaldaycalendar.com) include:
- Healthcare
- Education
- Employment / economic gain
- Pay
- Right to vote
- Free from Violence
And Women’s Week focuses on five pillars:
- Building relationships
- Self-knowledge
- Sexual assault & interpersonal violence
- Healthy self-image
- Leadership development.
International Women’s Day celebrates the global accomplishments of women. These include but are not limited to social, economical, and political achievements.
