Poetry has been a part of our storytelling since the beginning of time. Rhythm is a way to help us to recall the tales, and is particularly useful with oral traditions. It should come as no surprise to learn this was a big aspect to the cowboy culture nor that it remains so today.

Every year, Elko, Nevada celebrates the cowboy traditions of poetry, art, and human connection. The purpose is to keep the culture alive while building bonds and encouraging creativity. Isn’t that beautiful?
