1. Tell us about your story:
    • What is the name of your book?
    • What genre is it?
      • Horror without a doubt. I wrote this specifically for horror fans. I have been a horror fan from a young age… too young really… but I have always loved being scared. Specifically getting that exhilarating rush of adrenaline from head to toe.
      • Horror fans are some of the best in my opinion, and when that fan base loves a story, they go all out with the obsession of the story line. So, to feed that hunger, I did not hold back with the content. It is upfront right in your face from the beginning. Vampires. Blood. Gore. Dead Babies. Supernatural oddities. It is quite the ride from start to finish. I wanted it to be something that die hard horror fans could enjoy and get excited about seeing Easter eggs of other horror references throughout the series.
      • At the same time, I also wanted this to appeal to the casual reader and to be able to draw in more than just one type of fan base.
    • When and where is your tale set?
      • It’s a modern setting somewhere in rural Appalachia. Most of the main plot takes place at a church that is not unlike many others where I grew up. It’s creepy. Simple. Set way back in the woods, down a road locals know better than to travel.
      • Mina Murray leads a documentary film crew to interview Robert Renfield, the enigmatic leader of the Cult of Dracula. She discovers secrets about the Cult and about herself. Meanwhile, Agent Malcolm Bram leads an investigation into the conspiracy helping the cult hide in plain sight. We do take some trips back in time to explore the origins of Dracula and a broader vampire mythology, but we’re mostly in the present day.
  2. Who are you?
    • What is your name?
      • Mina Murray
    • Are you a fictional or historical character?
      • Fictional.
      • Funny enough, Mina the name of my dog that can also be seen throughout the comics and is also the dog seen on some cover art as well!
    • What’s your role in the story – are you the protagonist or a supporting character?
    • Are you a human, animal, alien, robot, or something completely different?
      • Human.
    • Do you consider yourself to be good, bad, or indifferent?  Would others agree with this assessment – why, or why not?
      • I guess that all depends on what your personal parameters of “good” means.
      • Mina is ambitious and strong willed. She is also selfless and a huge lover of animals and making the world a better and healthier place. I believe most readers would agree that those base line morals are “good” and should be accomplished by whatever means necessary.
  3. What do we need to know about you?
    • What is your personal goal?  I mean, what do you ultimately want?
      • I’ve already achieved it! My goal was to write something that would be successful enough to earn me a guest invitation to Dragoncon. I nailed that on my first book. I have no idea what to shoot for next!
    • What is standing in your way?  What conflict(s) do you face?
      • Currently, just finding time to write in between cons. I have been traveling every weekend now for about 3 months and it has just been a bit of a juggling act to travel and write on top of coordinating with artists and Source Point.
    • Why is this goal important to you?  What’s your motivation?
      • I wrote Cult of Dracula as a stage production back in 2011 at the Brown Coat Pub and theatre in Wilmington NC. It has grown so far beyond what I had ever seen it in my head. There were times where I thought it wasn’t going to go anywhere, but my biggest motivation for the entire thing has been my late wife, Amber.
      • Amber was always good about keeping me in line and pushing me to create and write this story. More importantly, she was my biggest supporter to chase this dream of publishing my own comic. She was and will always be the biggest inspiration and cheerleader for Cult of Dracula.
  4. How do I get a copy of your book?
    • Is it available now, or when can we expect to see it released?
      • Yes all six instalments of Cult of Dracula are currently available in fine comic book stores worldwide!
